Echo started with a simple question.
Why should we have to wait an entire year to look back at our music?
Spotify Wrapped has always been one of my favorite experiences. It turns months of listening into something fun, personal, and shareable. But after the excitement fades, you have to wait another year to experience it again.
I wanted something different.
Echo was built to let you explore your listening history whenever you want instead of waiting for an annual recap.
While working on the project, I also found inspiration from @albumreceipts, an Instagram page that presents music in a clean, receipt-like format. That inspired me to experiment with a different visual style. Instead of receipts, I imagined music memories as tickets—something collectible, personal, and worth sharing.
Today, Echo combines Spotify's listening data with a custom ticket design to create an interactive way of revisiting your music.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is login limited?
Spotify currently keeps new applications in Development Mode, which means only approved Spotify accounts can log in. Once Echo is approved by Spotify, anyone with a Spotify account will be able to use it.
Does Echo store my Spotify data?
No. Echo requests only the information needed to generate tickets, playlists, and insights. Your Spotify password is never accessible to Echo because authentication is handled through Spotify OAuth.
Is Echo affiliated with Spotify?
No. Echo is an independent personal project built using the Spotify Web API and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Spotify.
Why can I only log in with Spotify?
Echo currently supports Spotify authentication using the Spotify Web API. Apple Music support is planned for a future update.
Why isn't my account able to log in?
Spotify keeps new applications in Development Mode, so only approved Spotify accounts can access Echo for now. Once the application is approved by Spotify, anyone with a Spotify account will be able to use it.
Will my playlists or library be modified?
Only if you explicitly choose to create a playlist. Echo never changes your existing playlists or library without your permission.
Can I download my tickets?
Yes. Every generated ticket can be downloaded as a high-quality image and shared wherever you'd like.
